Grandparents Summit

19 November 2009, 12:00am

Grandparents and organisations representing them attended a Government summit this week to explore the changing role of grandparents in society and how the Government can support them.

Topics included how families and childcare services can adapt to meet their needs and the impact of combining employment with care of grandchildren. Results from the summit will inform the forthcoming Families and Relationships Green Paper. It follows a lobby organised by Grandparents Plus this month to raise awareness of the needs of grandparent carers and the children they look after (News, 5 November).
