Emergency hygiene order shuts nursery kitchen

A day nursery had its kitchen closed down for a week earlier this month after mouse droppings were discovered on site.
Magistrates in Leicester issued a hygiene emergency prohibition order on the city's First Steps Nursery after environmental health inspectors found 'extensive mouse activity in the kitchen, office, toy storage area and toddlers' room'. A similar order had been made in February this year. Health inspector Alison Cadmore inspected the building on 5 August and decided that there was an imminent risk to health if the kitchen was allowed to continue preparing food.
