Babies in childcare are more likely to become overweight than those cared for solely by their parents, a US study has found.
Research based at Harvard University and the University of Illinois found that non-parental care, including by childminders or family members, means that an infant is less likely to be breast-fed and more likely to start solid foods early. The researchers assessed 8,150 infants aged nine months from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study, a nationally representative cohort.
