Apprenticeships honoured

Kingscliffe Day Nursery in Loughborough has been named Micro Employer of the Year at the National Apprenticeships awards.

At the awards ceremony on 10 July, the Ark Day Nursery in Halifax was highly commended in the Small Employer of the Year (10-49 employees) category. The awards are given by the Learning and Skills Council to showcase employers who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to apprenticeships. Kingscliffe began running apprenticeships in 2001, soon after the nursery opened with only 20 childcare places. Manager and proprietor Alexis McConnachie of Kingscliffe said she has tried to recruit motivated staff by offering apprentices excellent training and development opportunities.
