Children tell why they like daycare

Primary school children see childcare as a positive influence on their lives and would like more of it, a Daycare Trust survey has found.

The charity interviewed 88 children aged six to 12, and disabled children aged up to 18, about their experiences and views on childcare for its DCSF-funded project Listening to Families. Respondents saw access to activities and facilities, and gaining independence from families, as the main benefits. Negative comments related to bullying, being unsafe and high costs. The younger children said they wanted staff to be caring and parent figures, while older children were keen to have young fit staff who can join...
