Government guidelines on how much exercise children need to stay healthy and prevent obesity need to be revised, says a new study.
Research by a team at the Peninsula Medical School at Plymouth University found that less than half of boys and only one in eight girls were getting the recommended one hour of physical activity per day. They also found that the change in body mass index (BMI), the official measure used to monitor the impact of exercise, was no different between those who did and those who did not meet the hour target.
