Policies overlook mothers' needs

The vital role of motherhood must not become overlooked in the Government's drive towards parenting policies, according to the Family and Parenting Institute.
In a new report it argues that Government policies need to talk about mothers, not just 'parents'. Priority for free childcare should be given to families where both parents are unemployed and where the mother is the lone parent, says the FPI. Fathers should have the right to a 'Daddy' month and maternity pay should rise to minimum wage levels.
