Striking nursery nurse takes stand on cost of living

The 600,000 local government workers going on strike next week have been driven to it by the cost of living, according to a Newcastle nursery nurse.

Unison members plan to strike on 16 and 17 July in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (News, 3 July). The action will involve 40,000 nursery workers and 70,000 teaching assistants from Unison. Tracey Rushton, a Unison member in Newcastle since 1992, told Nursery World that she thought it was 'time to make a stand' in the face of high inflation.
