Nurseries and schools get set for free books

Young children from the London borough of Tower Hamlets were joined by Government ministers last Thursday to celebrate two national reading initiatives which will see them benefit locally from £40,000 worth of books.

Schools minister Jim Knight and culture minister Margaret Hodge visited the Idea Store in Whitechapel to launch Book Ahead, aimed at children from birth to seven years old, and Boys into Books, designed for boys aged five to 11.
