Launch of Parent Know How programme
Nursery World,
15 May 2008
Parents will be able to access information about their child's progress at school by telephone, text message and e-mail, following last week's launch of a £44m scheme by the Government.
The Parent Know How programme will focus mostly on helping parents of disabled children and teenagers and fathers from all backgrounds. Children's secretary Ed Balls released a study showing that 65 per cent of parents want to get more involved in their child's education and most want informal discussions with teachers rather than traditional parents' evenings. Parental Involvement in Children's Education 2007 is at www.dcsf.gov.uk/research.
