Political parties reveal how they would tackle child poverty

Opposition parties outlined their policies to combat child poverty at a major conference last week.

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg and shadow children's secretary Michael Gove addressed the 'Creating Opportunities, Building Futures' conference organised by 4Children. Mr Clegg attacked the Government for failing to tackle inequality in childcare and early years education. He said, 'We aren't doing anywhere near enough in these earliest years to root out inequality. Sure Start isn't reaching the people who need it most, despite the best of intentions.
