Bill on junk food advertising fails to pass second reading

A bill calling for a ban on junk food advertising to children has failed to pass its second reading in the House of Commons after it was blocked by opposition MPs.
Labour MP Nigel Griffiths had introduced the Private Members' Bill last year. The Food Products (Marketing to Children) Bill had aimed to introduce a 9pm watershed for television advertising of unhealthy food and to introduce restrictions on non-broadcast marketing.
