Joint forces to tackle poverty in London

A working group bringing together councils and businesses has been set up to reduce child poverty in London.

Children's minister Beverley Hughes and employment minister Stephen Timms gave details of the initiative at St Stephen's Children's Centre in Stockwell on Monday. The London Child Poverty Ministerial Working Group is made up of the Greater London Authority, employers, local authorities, and other delivery organisations. It is part of a £125m UK programme of new approaches to help end child poverty. St Stephen's has a JobCentre Plus onsite, and this partnership has been successful in getting parents back to work.
