Strike threat from Ofsted inspectors

Ofsted inspectors in early years and social care may go on strike after pay talks with England's inspectorate broke down last week.

A three-year pay offer below inflation has angered over 1,000 inspectors, who are represented by Unison and the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union. They will be balloted for industrial action this week, with strikes possible in May. Both unions are disputing the offer, while school inspectors, belonging to another public service union, the FDA, accepted.
