Uphill battle for help with speech problems

Many parents have to fight to get the right help for their young children's speech, language and communication difficulties, a Government report has found.

A review by Conservative MP John Bercow said in its initial findings that early intervention was essential but was not always recognised as a priority by children's services, including health and education. The report said, 'Despite the hard work and commitment of many professionals, too many families find the experience of securing and maintaining support for their children difficult, protracted and stressful.'
