Sure Start leaders told to exercise their clout

Plans for a national network for children's centre leaders were outlined by children's minister Beverley Hughes at the first-ever national conference for Sure Start leaders last week.

The network will be run by Together For Children and the National College of School Leadership. Ms Hughes told the conference, 'This will give means of developing and disseminating good practice and of gaining mutual support in your roles.' She also announced a reference group of Sure Start leaders who will meet with ministers twice a year.
