DISS project published

Nursery World, 6 March 2008

The largest EVER study of school support staff was published last week by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

The Deployment and Impact of Support Staff (DISS) project, conducted by the Institute of Education, found that support staff spent almost twice as much time supporting the school as pupils - 3.1 hours over 1.7 hours a day respectively. However, the study also said that classroom-based support staff spent the majority of their time interacting with pupils. To view the DISS study visit www.dcsf.gov.uk/research.
