Government investment programme

Local authorities have been invited to bid to become pathfinders for the Government's £225m play investment programme, a part of the Children's Plan.
Fifteen local authorities will be selected out of 65 to act as play pathfinders from April 2008, each receiving around £2m in capital funds and significant revenue funding. Bids should include plans for a new staffed adventure playground, with indoor and outdoor facilities, specifically aimed at improving play opportunities for eight- to 13-year-olds.
