Records: Child database 'needs tighter security', says new review

Tighter security controls have been called for on the children's database ContactPoint, which is due to be launched later this year.

An independent report produced by consultants Deloitte & Touche found the £224m database to be 'inherently insecure' and said that it may be impossible to completely eradicate all security risks. It has called for a 'rapid impact assessment' to look at the best approach to minimising the possibility of inappropriate access. The Government said it has accepted all the report's recommendations and will address them.
