Premature babies: Study finds brain growth affected by infant diet

A premature baby's early diet can have a profound impact on their brain development, new research suggests.
UK researchers found that preterm infants who were fed enriched formula milk in their first weeks went on to outperform other premature babies in IQ tests. The study, carried out at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the UCL Institute of Child Health, and published in next month's Paediatric Research, brings some of the first proof that early feeding may alter brain structure.
