Sudden infant death: Parents show ignorance of cot death hazards

Most parents are not aware of the major cot death hazards, according to new research published at the launch of a three-year campaign to highlight the risks.

In a study carried out for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) and Mothercare, 797 parents of children aged under three were presented with a picture of a baby sleeping in a room containing eight cot death risks. Only a quarter of the parents could identify more than half of the potential hazards.
