Childcare registration: Ofsted fee rise 'will endanger children'

Planned increases in Ofsted registration fees are unacceptable because they could endanger the safety of children by encouraging the spread of unregulated childcare, the head of a Midlands nursery chain warned last week.
Andrew Large, director of Clowns Day Nurseries in Derbyshire, said his settings faced a rise from £120 this year to £450 by 2010 and that it was 'just one more example of an unrealistic pressure placed on an already struggling sector'.
