Workplace childcare: Council nursery that opened to public faces closure

Bradford City Council says the closure of its only workplace nursery will go ahead because 'it is no longer financially viable'.

Cavell House Nursery in Manningham is a 78-place setting catering for council employees and, since a £200,000 annual subsidy was withdrawn last March, local parents as well. Closure plans were announced in December and last week the matter was referred to the council's executive committee, which agreed to closing the nursery.
