Child database is put on hold

The introduction of a database holding details of every child in England is being delayed, the Government has confirmed.
In a statement to MPs, children's minister Kevin Brennan said that the database, ContactPoint, was being developed by local authorities, voluntary and community organisations, and practitioners from across children's services, and that here had been 'substantial stakeholder feedback' over the last few months.
