In Brief: Language and Social Exclusion report published

The children's communication charity I CAN and the BT Better World campaign have published a new report entitled Language and Social Exclusion, which claims that nearly two-thirds of children and young people at risk of social exclusion will have undetected speech, language and communication needs.

The report says that in some socially disadvantaged areas of the UK, there is evidence that 50 to 80 per cent of children start primary school with delayed language capabilities.
