Scotland: Forum for views on provision

The future of Edinburgh's nurseries and schools is to be considered by a cross-party forum set up by the City Council.
Plans to close 22 schools and nurseries were withdrawn by the council in September, amid community protests (News, 13 September).
The Liberal Democrat-led council says that the city's child population has fallen by 18 per cent in the last ten years and that 'rationalisation' of the Children and Families Estate is necessary.
Last week a council report proposed that all stakeholders put their views to a forum that will include parent, teacher and religious group representatives.
