Family Health: Mothers' grant plans unveiled

Details of the one-off £190 grant to be offered to all pregnant women were revealed by Treasury minister Jane Kennedy at last week's annual conference of the Daycare Trust.
From April 2009 the Health in Pregnancy Grant will be available from the 25th week of pregnancy for women to spend as they choose, once they have had appropriate health advice from a midwife. Ms Kennedy said, 'A healthy lifestyle is important in the later stages of pregnancy, and we recognised that this is an expensive time for families.'
