I am concerned that the lowering of age for the Level 2 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development from 16 to 14 (Work Matters, 8 November) will make schoolchildren see childcare as an 'easy option'.
My nurseries value training and development and often take students this age on work experience. In the interview process, I am usually faced with a fresh-faced teenager who tells me, 'I want to work in a nursery because I love playing with children'.
