Research: Toddlers bond with robots

Young children can bond with robots in the same way they do with their human peers, say scientists in California.
A team from the University of California at San Diego conducted an experiment in which two robots, RUBI and QRIO, interacted with 12 children aged 18 to 24 months old for 45 sessions over five months. Their study, 'Socialisation between toddlers and robots at an early education center', is part of the RUBI Project, which aims to develop and evaluate interactive computer devices to assist early education teachers.
