Reading campaign welcomed

Early years experts have welcomed the National Year of Reading with the proviso that parents must receive the right support.

The campaign, to begin in January next year, aims to encourage people of all ages to discover the pleasure of reading, embracing families, companies and the national media. Run by the National Literacy Trust, it will involve a series of national and local events in themed months, such as 'father to son' and 'classics and modern literature'. Launching the initiative, Children, Schools and Families secretary Ed Balls said, 'It's very important that we help more children to become confident readers'...
