Fast food high on salt
Nursery World,
25 October 2007
Eating at a fast food restaurant could expose children to 'shockingly high' levels of salt, a survey of restaurant chains has found.
Lobby group the Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) said one meal from Pizza Hut contained four times the daily salt limit for a six-year-old. KFC meals were also found to have unhealthy salt levels. CASH called for all restaurants to carry nutrition information so people could make informed choices. The survey was published as a Government report predicted that more than half of adults will be obese by 2050 (News, page 4).
