Parenting: Experts seek TV ban

The backlash against parenting reality-television programmes continued this week, with child experts united against Channel 4's 'Bringing Up Baby'.

The show has been widely slammed by critics for 'experimenting' on babies with outdated and discredited theories which could harm their development ('Analysis', 11 October and News, 4 October). Baby guru Claire Verity's strict routine from the 1950s has attracted the most outrage. In a letter to the Daily Telegraph, a group of leading professionals and academics condemned the makers of the 'exploitative parenting series'.
