Television causes behavioural problems in young children
Nursery World,
4 October 2007
Young children who watch television for more than two hours a day may develop behavioural problems and poor social skills, according to a US study.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University surveyed the parents of 2,707 children about their viewing habits and behaviour at 2.5 and 5.5 years of age. They found sustained exposure to television was associated with behavioural problems. But children who reduced their viewing by 5.5 years were not at greater risk, suggesting the damage can be reversed.
