Report reveals UK invests more money per child in early years education

The UK invests more money per child in early years education than any other country, according to a report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development last week. It found that in 2004 the UK invested $7,924 per child aged three to five years old for all services. Enrolment of children aged three to four years old in 2005 was found to be at 90.6 per cent, well above the OECD average of 68.5 per cent. The report said, 'Indicators show that, overall, educational performance in the UK remains strong, with significant progress in early childhood participation.'
