In Brief: Edinburgh City councillors scrap plans

Plans to close more than 20 schools and nurseries were officially scrapped by Edinburgh City councillors at a meeting held last week. A motion put forward by a Labour and Green Party coalition was voted through in less than 15 minutes. Full-time nursery places remain under threat, as the council is pushing ahead with plans to cut 1,054 places to 700 between December and April next year.
