In Brief: Pregnant women to be offered £120 grant

Pregnant women are to be offered a £120 grant from the Government to improve the health of their unborn babies. Women who are seven months pregnant will receive a one-off 'Health in Pregnancy Grant', along with advice on maintaining a healthy diet. The funding is intended to raise birth weights in deprived areas and prevent heart disease and other problems developing in later life.
