Centre areas see learning goal rise

Communication skills and language development among young children in Nottingham have risen significantly in the past 12 months, new figures show.
The figures cover attainment for children in children's centre areas, although there is no correlating data to confirm how many of the children attended Sure Start or early years provision. Nottingham currently has nine children's centres and is expected have 16 open by March 2008. Provisional findings compared data from the Foundation Stage Profile for the years 2006 and 2007 in children's centre areas and found that there had been a rise of ten percentage points in children's scores for the communication, language and literacy...
