One-third of nursery places under threat

Edinburgh City Council plans to scrap one-third of its nursery places and close five nursery schools in education cuts set to save more than £9m.

The city's children and families estate was put under review in May when the council said there had been a fall in pupil numbers (News, 7 June). The council is consulting on the future of Cameron House Nursery School, Grassmarket Nursery School, High School Yards Nursery School, Princess Elizabeth Nursery School, Victoria Park Child and Family Centre and Westfield Court Nursery School.
