New light shed on parenting

The experiences of 'millions of ordinary families' are the subject of a round-up of research into parenting published this week.

Rather than blaming 'bad parenting' for children and young people's 'problem' behaviour and dysfunctional family life, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) sets out to look at the differences in parenting in families and the implications for family policies and support services. The review commissioned by JRF into seven topics of existing research looks at parenting from the perspectives of parents, children and black and minority ethnic families and those living in poverty.
