In Brief: Lack of childcare places in Ireland

There are not enough childcare places in Northern Ireland for all the parents who wish to return to work, say children's charities. The Early Years Strategic Alliance presented Caitriona Ruane, the education minister for Northern Ireland, with an early years manifesto, outlining key areas for action. Spokesperson Patricia Haren said, 'There is a need to ensure women have access to quality, affordable and age-appropriate childcare.'
