Centre spans age groups

The Mayor of London has pledged substantial funding to support the creation of an inter-generational centre offering Sure Start services to children, families and older people.

The London Development Agency (LDA) will provide a £1.5 million grant and decide which borough will start the project. The new centre will provide a range of shared services and facilities for older people, children and young people and families. Stephen Burke is chief executive of Counsel and Care, a national charity that works to get older people the best support and care, which will advise on the centre's development.
