EYP shortage looms

There may be a shortage of Early Years Professionals to lead new children's centres, according to a report by MPs.
The Public Accounts Committee report states: 'There is a risk that the 2,000 people undergoing training as early years professionals and 800 as centre leaders will not be sufficient for the centres required in the second and third phases of the programme.' The report said children's centres were failing to reach the most disadvantaged families, citing data from last year's National Audit Office report, which found that only one third of 30 children's centres visited had 'proactively sought out hard to reach families'.
