Shut nursery counts cost of flooding

A nursery in the path of last month's heavy flooding has been forced to close for six weeks with more than £50,000 worth of damages.
Horn End Nursery in Stafford saw waters rise up to 18 inches inside and two-and-a-half feet outside. The nursery's 45 children and staff are now split between Stafford Children's Centre and the headquarters of Stafford Sea Scouts. Nursery owner and head teacher Deborah Falshaw said, 'The nursery has prepared flood defence, but we didn't put on the final barriers on the Monday night because we did not receive the warning from the environmental service.
