Other parties pick shadow ministers

Gordon Brown's new cabinet has been followed by a ministerial re-shuffle by Conservative leader David Cameron, in which the Times columnist Michael Gove was named last week as the shadow Secretary for Children, Schools and Families - the opposite number to Ed Balls.

The frontbench team working with him includes Nick Gibb, Maria Miller and Tim Loughton. Former shadow education secretary David Willetts has become shadow Secretary for Innovation, Universities and Skills. For the Liberal Democrats, David Laws has moved from shadowing work and pensions to become the shadow Secretary for Children, Schools and Families.
