Qualified staff levels set out for standards

Just half the staff in any pre-school setting should be required to be qualified under the new national standards - whether to NVQ2 or NVQ3 level - the Scottish Executive proposed last week. The proposed qualification standard is set out in an annex to a letter sent out last week by Angus Skinner, chair of the national care standards committee, to accompany the second draft of the standards for regulation of education and childcare, which have been revised in the light of consultation.
