Outcry as smacking law kept unchanged

The Government's decision to continue allowing parents in England and Wales to smack their children has been branded as a betrayal by a coalition of charities, including Save the Children and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. The Children are Unbeatable! Alliance roundly condemned the announcement by the Department of Health last week that it would not be changing the status quo following an analysis of responses to a consultation that began last year.
