Early years to lose skills training body

The early years sector's initial bid to retain a dedicated organisation to oversee its workforce training has been rejected by the Government. A DfES spokeswoman said that the early years bid, submitted by the Council for Awards in Childcare and Education (CACHE) on behalf of the sector, had been turned down and discussions were under way about an 'interim administrative arrangement' to follow the closure of the Early Years National Training Organisation.
