Ofsted is proposed to register nannies

The feasibility of having all nannies registered and inspected by Ofsted is being examined by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). Last week the child protection charity began looking at whether a UK-wide register of all nannies could be run by Ofsted's Early Years Directorate along similar lines to its registration and inspection of childminders in England. The move followed a meeting last week between the NSPCC and campaigners for a national nanny register.
