If you look after nursery-or school-age children, you've probably been happy to pack them off to school or playgroup for their creative work so you can get back to scraping the paint off the kitchen lino before their mother gets home. You may not yet have even discovered the balls of dried playdough lurking under the sofa. Then the realisation hits you - it's nearly half-term!
