I think a registration fee is an acceptable thing to pay to place your child on the nursery register of your choice, as it is a safeguard for the families involved and the nursery (News, 23 May). It takes time and money to register a child, and if a nursery such as ours with large waiting lists has confirmed a space, then parents can relax. If it is an acceptable sum such as £20, people don't mind paying it. As it is often a senior member of staff who deals with the application, how much is their time worth? Ann...
